Empuriabrava is one of the largest marinas in the world. It is located on the coast of Girona (Catalonia, Spain). Empuriabrava was originally built on a swamp, and was transformed into a touristic community with original planning in 1964 and completion in 1975. The town has more than 30km of canals and a seasonal, summer population of around 80,000. The Greco-Roman acropolis of Sant Martà d'Empúries is nearby.
On January 14th over 4000 properties in Empuriabrava were expropriated by the Spanish Government without compensation. Its aerodrome (ICAO-code LEAP), immediately to the North of the town, serves various air sports.© This article about tourism in Empuriabrava is provided by a external resource
