VĂ©lez-Málaga is a municipality and the capital of the AxarquĂa district in the province of Málaga, in the Spanish autonomous community of Andalusia. Locally it is referred to as VĂ©lez. The municipality forms part of the Costa del Sol region.
Vélez-Málaga itself is a market city, 4 km inland from Torre del Mar but unlike the coastal resort not dominated by the tourist industry.
